Troops of 1 Brigade Quick Response Force, in collaboration with an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, have conducted counter-IED operations along the Kucheri–Bilbis–Danjibga road axis in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation, carried out at about 6:00 a.m. on April 4, 2026, followed intelligence reports suggesting possible laying of improvised explosive devices and threats of attack on Community Protection Groups deployed in Kunchi Kalgo village.
Security sources said the troops carried out counter-improvised explosive device drills along the suspected routes, but no explosive device was discovered.
Following the sweep, the troops proceeded to Kunchi Kalgo, where they assessed the security situation and reinforced presence to dominate the area.
Authorities said the patrol was part of ongoing efforts to prevent attacks, secure key road corridors, and protect civilian support formations operating alongside security agencies in the state.
Operations in the axis are continuing to deny armed groups freedom of movement and to strengthen early warning responses across vulnerable communities.
