7 Niger soldiers killed, 2 injured in ISWAP  IED attack in Diffa

Seven soldiers have been killed by a mine in Niger’s southwestern Diffa region, where jihadist attacks using improvised explosive device (IEDs) are increasingly frequent.

 

It was gathered that the soldiers paid the supreme price after an IED struck a patrol vehicle of the troops in Chétima Wongou, approx 24km southwest of Diffa town.

 

Zagazola Makama, a Security Analyst and Counter Insurgency Expert in the Lake Chad region, understands that Two other soldiers were wounded in the blast, which occurred on Friday.
