Armed Attacks and Violence Erupt in Dosso Region, Niger

A series of armed attacks and violent incidents have been reported in the Dosso Region of Niger, leaving a trail of destruction and fear in their wake.
On August 28, 2024, at approximately 02:20, four armed individuals on motorcycles attacked the Nita transfer agency in Sermo, a village located about 7 km north of Yelou. The attackers made off with significant amounts of money after firing shots.
Later that same day, around 04:20, the same individuals targeted transfer agencies Zeyna and Nita in Kotoumbou, about 15 km north of Yelou. Fortunately, no lives were lost, but substantial amounts of money were stolen.
In a separate incident on August 29, 2024, a Pulian chief from Mamaya, in the rural municipality of Dioundiou, was attacked and injured by armed bandits.
Exchanges of gunfire also took place in Bolbol between passing terrorists and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) on August 29, 2024.
Additionally, bandits blocked the road between Gaya and Dosso, at the level of the village of Kontalangou, for some time before retreating.
