Attack in Namentenga Province, Burkina Faso: Armed Groups Overrun Military Camp
JNIM have launched a devastating attack on the military camp in Namentenga Province in Burkina Faso on Tuesday, overwhelming the soldiers stationed there and taking full control of the facility.
In videos circulating online, the attackers can be seen moving freely around the camp, facing no visible resistance after the attack.
Preliminary reports indicate that at least 18 soldiers were killed in the assault, and the attackers reportedly seized all available military equipment.
The fall of the camp has raised concerns about the strength and organization of armed groups operating in the region.
Locals have expressed their frustration and disbelief at the ease with which the attack occurred.
"Where were the protections and spiritual guidance of old Konoumba Traoré and his leadership?" asked one resident, referring to the traditional beliefs and practices, often linked to fetishes, which are sometimes thought to provide supernatural defense.
