Armed men suspected to be bandits have abducted a traditional titleholder, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammadu Bello, during a late-night raid on Karaduwa Village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on Friday when the assailants, riding on motorcycles, stormed the village and forcibly whisked the 60-year-old Wakilin Hakimin Matazu away from his residence to an unknown destination.
The attack prompted a swift response from local authorities. The Divisional Police Officer in Matazu mobilised Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol teams to the area in an attempt to pursue the kidnappers and rescue the victim.
While the perpetrators had fled before the arrival of the security team, efforts to track and apprehend them are ongoing. Monitoring and surveillance operations have been intensified in the area to forestall further attacks.
Residents of Karaduwa and neighbouring communities have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to authorities.
