By Zagazola Makama

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Maj.-Gen. Maxwell Dangana, has relocated his tactical headquarters from Jos to Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State following the deadly attack on Bin-Per community in Kombun District.

The move comes after the early morning attack on Tuesday, Aug. 18, in which at least 23 people, including women and children, were reportedly killed.

Maj.-Gen. Dangana arrived in Mangu on Wednesday, Aug. 19, accompanied by additional troops, equipment and other operational resources to personally coordinate military operations and assess the security situation.

The relocation of the tactical headquarters is part of measures aimed at strengthening the military’s presence in the affected communities, improving response time and enhancing coordination of security operations in the area.

The Army has also commenced Operation HARD KNOT, a special operation aimed at containing further attacks, protecting vulnerable communities and tracking down those responsible for the violence.

The GOC is expected to oversee the deployment of troops and operational assets while engaging local stakeholders as part of efforts to restore security and confidence among residents.

The development comes amid renewed security concerns in parts of Plateau State, where recurring attacks and reprisal violence have continued to threaten lives, livelihoods and community relations.

Security forces are expected to sustain patrols, intelligence gathering and offensive operations across identified flashpoints to prevent further escalation.

Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend perpetrators.
