The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested another notorious kidnapper linked to several abductions across the FCT and neighbouring states.

The arrest follows ongoing clearance operations directed by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, to dismantle kidnapping syndicates operating within and around the capital.

Police sources said the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi, male, from Guruku in Nasarawa State, was apprehended by operatives of the Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey at about 6:00 p.m. on June 18.

“Acting on actionable intelligence obtained from earlier arrested suspects, operatives raided a criminal hideout in Guruku. Upon sighting the team, the suspect’s gang members opened fire, sparking a gun duel,” said the source.

The sources stated that the operatives overpowered the criminals, forcing them to flee into a nearby bush with suspected gunshot wounds.

Abdullahi, who sustained a gunshot injury to his lower left leg during the encounter, was arrested at the scene.

A long knife and various local charms were recovered from the suspect, who confessed to regularly supplying weapons for use during kidnapping operations.

He  added that efforts were ongoing to recover additional weapons and apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.

The suspect is currently in custody and receiving medical attention while investigation continues.
