Gunmen abduct man at residence in Plateau

Troops of Sector 3 Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have launched a search operation following the abduction of a man, Mr Ndubisi Onuigbo, at Angwan Kaji Village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to sources, the incident occurred at about 8:21 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, when the victim was reportedly ambushed by unidentified gunmen at the entrance to his residence.
The sources said troops responded to the distress call and proceeded to the location, where they confirmed that the victim had been kidnapped.
The troops, alongside personnel from other security agencies, immediately commenced a search and rescue operation in the general area in an effort to locate the victim and track down the perpetrators.
However, no contact was established with the kidnappers during the initial search.
Security forces have continued efforts to trace the abductors and rescue the victim, while surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations are ongoing in the area.
