The Nigerian Police Force has arrested three suspects for allegedly attacking police officers with machetes and other dangerous weapons in the Byazhin area of Kubwa.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Wednesday when officers responded to a distress call from a trader whose wares were vandalized by hoodlums.
He said a patrol team was deployed to the scene, but on arrival, the officers were ambushed by the miscreants armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons.
“In the attack, Inspector Wabi Elisha sustained a deep machete cut to his head, while Inspector Sunday Ujah suffered injuries to his face and shoulder.
“Both officers were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where Inspector Ujah was treated and discharged, while Inspector Elisha was referred to the National Hospital for further medical care,” he said.
The reinforcement teams arrested three suspects: Daniel Effiong Thompson, 23; Jude Danlami Jacob Yohana; and Gabriel Ezekiel, son of the Sarkin Byazhin, who allegedly masterminded the attack.
He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) had taken over the case.
