IGP undertakes visits to niger and Kebbi states over recent security incidents

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,has carried out official visits to Niger and Kebbi states, engaging with government officials and security stakeholders on the prevailing security situation. 

 

In Niger State, the IGP arrived at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, at about 1:30 p.m. and was received by AIG Zone 7 Abuja, Victor Olaiya, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, MNIPS, and heads of other security agencies. 

 

The visit followed the recent abduction incident at St. Mary Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, Agwara LGA.

 

During the visit, the IGP held interactions with the Executive Governor of Niger State, former Governor Umar Muhammad Bago, traditional rulers, and other top government officials at the Government House, Minna. 

 

The engagement ended peacefully, and the IGP departed at about 2:50 p.m., while security agencies maintained vigilance throughout the visit.

 

Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, the IGP and his entourage arrived at Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, at about 10:57 a.m. and proceeded to meet with security stakeholders at the Presidential Lodge, discussing the general security situation in the state. 

 

The IGP also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, at Government House, Kauran Gwandu.

 

The visit, which ended peacefully, was complemented by heightened patrols and surveillance across key locations in both states to ensure continued public safety and confidence.

 

Security authorities have assured that monitoring and proactive measures will continue to prevent any recurrence of violent incidents and to protect residents.
