ISWAP attack on passenger vehicle kills two, injures two in Borno

Suspected ISWAP terrorists on motorcycles attacked a passenger vehicle along the Zindir–Gajigana axis of Magumeri Local Government Area in Borno State on Monday, killing two people and injuring two others.

Sources told Zagazola Makama the incident occurred at about 2:50 p.m. when Alema Ibrahim, 40, was driving a Gulf Wagon with registration number MNG 793 AA, en route from Monguno to Maiduguri.

The attackers opened fire on the vehicle, fatally injuring the driver, Alema Ibrahim, and one Shetima Isa, 36, of Water Board IDP’s Camp Monguno.

Two other passengers, Babagana Isah, 35, and Habu Sani, 30, also of the IDP camp, sustained varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters visited the scene, secured the area, and evacuated the victims to General Hospital Monguno. The fatally injured were certified dead on arrival, while the injured are receiving treatment.

The corpses were released to relatives for burial according to Islamic rites, while patrols along the road have been intensified to prevent further attacks.
