Katsina Hosts Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Safer Livestock Transportation

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the successful hosting of a North West Zonal symposium and stakeholders’ dialogue on safer and efficient livestock transportation in Nigeria, held in Katsina on 20 June 2026.

The event, organised by the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCON), North West Zone, took place at the Local Government Service Commission Conference Hall.

The symposium, themed “Enhancing Road Safety in Livestock Transportation and Addressing Blockages on National Highways,” brought together key stakeholders from government and the livestock trade sector.

Among dignitaries in attendance were the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda; Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Lawal Jobe; Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engr. Aminu Usman; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; Minister of Livestock Development, Muktar Idi Maiha; Minister of Housing, Mustapha Rabe; State Minister of Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sahabi Abdullahi; and Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Bello Kaoje, among others.

The Command stated that the event also attracted cattle dealers, foodstuff traders, and butchers’ associations across the North West region.

Security arrangements were adequately provided by the police command, ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free event, which ended at about 1422hrs.

The Command said the outcome of the dialogue is expected to contribute to improved safety and efficiency in livestock transportation across the country.
