One person has been killed and another severely injured following a farmers–herders clash in Fogbe village, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Security sources said a joint team comprising troops of 176 Guards Battalion, the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) responded to a distress call on the incident at about 11:20 a.m. on April 7.

On arrival, the security team reportedly found that the confrontation was triggered after herders allegedly invaded the village over claims that two of their cattle died from suspected food poisoning while grazing near the community.

During the incident, one local was killed, while another victim sustained severe injuries, including the amputation of his left hand.

The injured victim was evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, while security operatives restored calm in the community.

Security sources said efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
