One killed as youths clash in Magama LGA, Niger

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 20-year-old man, Ladan Sule, following a violent clash between two groups of youths from different communities in Kontagora and Magama Local Government Areas of the state.

 

Sources at the command told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on June 9 at about 10:00 a.m. when a group of youths from Kawon-Kontagora Village in Kontagora LGA stormed Matendi Village in Magama LGA and engaged in a deadly fight with unidentified individuals.

 

“During the violent confrontation, Ladan Sule, aged 20, from Uchu Village in Kontagora, was shot dead,” the statement said.

 

The sources said Police operatives from Nasko Division visited the scene, and the victim’s corpse was evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital Morgue in Kontagora for autopsy.

 

The police said the motive behind the clash is yet to be established but assured that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the incident and apprehend those responsible.
