Osun Police Arrest Three Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms

The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered two locally fabricated firearms with live ammunition during an intelligence-led operation targeting a car-snatching syndicate operating around Ibadan metropolis.
According to sources, credible intelligence indicated that members of a robbery gang were converging in the morning hours of 20 June 2026 at a location around Dew Hotel, Olorunsogo area of Ibadan, where they allegedly plan and coordinate operations.
Acting on the information, operatives of the VCRU swiftly stormed the location and arrested three suspects identified as Akinpelu Afeez, 39, also known as “Starboy”; Taiwo Adams, 45, alias “Adamson”; and Salawudeen Taofeeq, 35, also known as “T.K”.
The Command stated that preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to involvement in several car-snatching operations within Ibadan metropolis.
A subsequent search conducted at their hideout in the Aremo area of Ibadan led to the recovery of two cut-to-size locally fabricated single-barrel firearms and six live cartridges.
The Police added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
It said investigation is in progress and further updates will be communicated.
