Police Arrest Five Notorious Kidnap Gang, Recover Arms in Rivers

The Nigerian Police Force in Rivers State have  arrested a gang of suspected kidnappers responsible for a series of abductions and killings in Rukpokwu, Igwuruta, Omagwa, and Etche areas of the state.

 

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the  operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), acting on actionable intelligence, carried out a coordinated operation that lasted for eight hours, leading to the arrest of five suspects.

 

The suspects, identified as Mohammedu Bello, 30, from Padiki LGA of Kwara State; Suleman Umar, 26, from Hadeja LGA of Jigawa State; Bello Amadu, 35, from Keffi-Hausa LGA of Jigawa State; Adamu Musa, 30, from Hadeja LGA of Jigawa State; and Abubakar Mohammed, 22, from Azare LGA of Bauchi State, were arrested at different locations within Rukpokwu.

 

The sources said that the suspects have confessed to numerous kidnapping operations, including the killing of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Amiesimaka Stadium.

 

During the operation, security operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, sixty-six rounds of live ammunition, three locally made pistols, ten live cartridges, several mobile phones, and multiple SIM cards believed to have been used in their criminal activities.
