Police Arrest Four After Robbery, Mob Attack in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four persons following a robbery incident and subsequent mob action in Balogun Tori-Ola community along Ido Road, Ologuneru area of Ibadan.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, and was reported to the Eleyele Police Division following a distress call at about 5:00 a.m.
According to a police source, three young men armed with iron rods allegedly invaded a compound in the community and attacked the occupants.
During the attack, two of the suspects, identified as Adebiyi Ajibola Abdul Fatai and Lawal Lateef Olatunbosun, allegedly dispossessed the victims of an iPhone 17 valued at about ₦1.2 million and a two-gram 18-carat gold earring valued at ₦400,000.
The suspects reportedly fled after the robbery, but an alarm raised by residents led to the arrest of one of them, identified as Taiwo Opadare, 32, of Idera area, Omi-Adio, Ibadan.
His arrest subsequently led to the apprehension of another alleged accomplice, Azeez Mutairu, 25.
However, the situation later escalated when Azeez was allegedly dragged out of his residence in the presence of his parents.
The two robbery victims, Adebiyi and Lawal, allegedly attacked him with a cutlass, inflicting serious injuries to his right hand and leg.
Following the report, a police patrol team was deployed to the scene, where photographs were taken and the injured suspect was evacuated to Crest Line Hospital, Benjamin Bus Stop, Eleyele, Ibadan, for medical treatment.
The police subsequently arrested Adebiyi and Lawal in connection with the alleged mob action and robbery.
The four suspects are now in police custody as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the robbery, arrests and subsequent assault.
The police said investigation is ongoing and further developments will be communicated.
