The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), attacked men of the Nigerian Police Force at a checkpoint in Mairari in Konduga Local Government Area in Borno.

It was gathered that the attack

occurred on Monday night, Dec. 4, when the attackers stormed the Police crack team FOB base.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that a heavy gun battle ensued between the police and the ISWAP terrorists which lasted for 15 minutes, forcing the terrorists to withdraw.

The sources said that no life was lost, or injuries but the terrorists took away two rifles belonging to the police while the Police Hilux Armored Personnel Carrier vehicle was damaged.

“The APC was damaged as we were chasing the terrorists toward their withdrawal route. As we were trying to overrun the terrorists who were holding GPMGs, another one fired at the APC forcing it to lose its memory,”he said.

The sources said that efforts of the men prevented the terrorists from burning the APC.
