Police Inspector, Civilian Killed in Suspected Herdsmen Attack in Agatu, Benue State

A police inspector and a civilian have been killed following an armed attack on Ipelle village in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected Fulani herders.

 

Sources who confirmed the incident, said the  slain officer, Insp. Daniel Omanyebu, was attached to the Ipelle Police Outpost under Agatu Division.

 

The sources said upon receiving the distress report, police tactical units including Operation Zenda, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), and divisional patrol teams were mobilized to the scene. 

 

The Area Commander, Otukpo, has relocated to Agatu to coordinate and supervise the ongoing operations.

 

The body of the fallen inspector has been recovered and deposited at the mortuary, while efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case.
