Police Launch Manhunt After Motorist Found Dead Along Bauchi Road

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected armed robbers after a man was found dead along a roadside in Dugunde Madara Village, Katagum Local Government Area.
The incident was reported at about 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following a distress call received from a resident identified as Musa.
According to a police source, the caller reported that a lifeless body had been discovered lying by the roadside, with initial indications that the victim may have been attacked and beaten by unidentified persons who subsequently made away with his motor vehicle.
Following the report, a police patrol team led by a Station Police Officer (SPO) promptly mobilised to the scene.
The victim was evacuated to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Azare, for medical examination, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
Police personnel photographed the scene, while the victim’s remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The command has intensified efforts to trace and apprehend the suspected perpetrators and recover the stolen vehicle.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing, with further developments expected to be communicated by the police.
