Police Rescue Man From Mob Attack by Motorcycle Riders in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued a 32-year-old man from an alleged mob attack by commercial motorcycle riders at the Tai Solarin University College of Education, Ososa, Ijebu area of the state.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, following information received from a Good Samaritan that some angry Hausa youths who were Okada riders were attempting to mob the man, identified as Tosin Awokoya.
According to a police source, Awokoya and an accomplice had allegedly attempted to snatch a motorcycle belonging to one of the riders, prompting the rider to raise an alarm.
The alarm reportedly attracted other motorcycle riders, who began pursuing and assaulting Awokoya.
Following the distress report, a police patrol team was immediately deployed to the scene and rescued the victim.
The suspected attackers reportedly fled on their motorcycles upon sighting the police.
Awokoya, who sustained injuries during the assault, was initially rushed to St. Thomas Hospital, Ososa, before being referred to the State Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, where he was admitted and is responding to treatment.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the victim’s alleged accomplice, who reportedly escaped when the motorcycle rider raised the alarm over the attempted theft.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the attempted motorcycle theft and the subsequent mob action.
