Rivers police rescue abducted girls, arrest suspects in Yenagoa

The Rivers State Police Command has rescued two abducted teenage girls and arrested several suspects in connection with the incident in Yenagoa.

According to the police, the victims, identified as Beauty Effiong Edem, 15, and Joy Ekpe Effiong, 16, both from Akwa Ibom State, were abducted on March 16 by an unknown woman.

Following intelligence reports, police conducted a raid at Honey City Hotel, leading to the arrest of Obot Sandy Okorie, 42, the hotel manager; Emma Monday, 33, the Chief Security Officer; and Glory Obot Okorie, 32, the wife of the hotel owner, along with 17 other females suspected to be involved in prostitution.

During the operation, authorities also discovered a 10-year-old girl, Gift Etim, who had allegedly been forced into prostitution.

The rescued victims are now receiving care, while the arrested suspects remain in police custody for further investigation.

The Rivers State Police Command confirmed that investigation into the case is ongoing and urged the public to provide information to assist in identifying other perpetrators.
