Security agencies in Plateau State on Sunday conducted a joint show of force across major flashpoints in Jos metropolis and the Bukuru general area to ensure peaceful church services and deter criminal activities.
Security sources said the operation involved troops of Operation Enduring Peace, personnel of the Nigerian Air Force from 551 NAF Station, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Keystone operatives and other security agencies.
According to the sources, the exercise commenced at about 7:30 a.m. and covered strategic locations considered vulnerable to security breaches within the state capital and its environs.
The sources explained that the operation was designed to reassure residents, provide security for worshippers attending church services and deny criminal elements the opportunity to operate within the affected areas.
The joint patrol and show of force also served as a visible demonstration of the commitment of security agencies to maintaining law and order and safeguarding lives and property.
Security officials confirmed that the exercise was conducted without any incident, while church services across the areas covered were held peacefully.
They added that security agencies would continue to sustain proactive measures aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring a secure environment for residents.
Residents were urged to remain law-abiding and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information on suspicious activities.
