Security forces have launched a manhunt for suspected Fulani Bandits following the killing of a resident, Mr Daniel Simon Dachomo, at Nyarwai village in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 7:50 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, when troops of Sector 4, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Barkin Ladi, responded to a report of an attack and killing in the community.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops arrived at the scene and discovered the victim’s body bearing gunshot wounds.
The assailants, who were suspected in the report to be members of a Fulani militia, had fled the area before the arrival of the troops.
Security personnel recovered one empty cartridge case and one live round of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition at the scene.
Following the discovery, the troops dominated and combed the surrounding area in an effort to locate the fleeing attackers and prevent further attacks on residents. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
The incident has heightened security concerns in the area, with security forces expected to maintain increased patrols and surveillance around Nyarwai and adjoining communities.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies that could assist in tracking the perpetrators.
