Security Forces Raid Criminal Hideouts in Edo, Arrest Two Suspects

Joint security operatives have raided suspected criminal hideouts in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, leading to the arrest of two suspects and recovery of weapons.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 6:27 a.m. on May 17, 2026, by troops of the Nigerian Army 4 Brigade in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and local hunters.
According to the sources, the operation targeted suspected criminal enclaves at Egoro Amede, Ekeke Forest, Ishiolili villages and Camp Sule Rugan Fulani within the local government area.
During the raid, security operatives apprehended two suspected criminals and recovered three machetes, one spear and a mobile phone.
The suspects and recovered items were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across the area.
