Security operatives have repelled a bandit attack on Unguwar Bido and Unguwar Kanawa villages in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, arresting one suspect during the operation.

Security sources said the attack occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on April 28 when a large number of heavily armed bandits invaded the communities, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.

The sources disclosed that security teams swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee in different directions with suspected casualties.

According to the sources, operatives subsequently cordoned off exit routes and apprehended one suspect identified as Mudassir Garba, 32, during mop-up operations.

They added that two residents, Najba Lawal, 18, and Sani Abdullahi, 25, sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and were evacuated to General Hospital Dandume for treatment.

Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend other fleeing suspects, while security presence has been reinforced in the area to prevent further attacks.
