Security forces  rescue kidnap victim in Benue, intensify search for others

Security forces have rescued one Wuese Luben, a victim of the recent kidnapping incident involving passengers of a Benue Links bus abducted on June 22 in Ugbokolo.

 

Zagazola Makama learnt that the rescue operation, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday, was carried out by police tactical teams in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guards.

 

According to police sources, the victim was rescued at about 12:30 a.m. at Ipiga village in Ohimini Local Government Area, following intense search operations.

 

Luben, who hails from Vandeikya LGA, narrated that he escaped after fear and confusion gripped the eight kidnappers when they sensed that security operatives were closing in on their hideout at about 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.

 

The victim, one of several passengers kidnapped while traveling in a Benue Links bus was later located and safely retrieved by the rescue team.

 

The police said efforts are ongoing to track down the kidnappers and rescue the remaining victims, as the criminals are believed to have relocated from their previous hideout.
