Troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, have recovered a locally fabricated firearm and ammunition after suspected criminals abandoned a bag and fled during a patrol in Ebonyi State.
Military sources said the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on May 18, 2026, when troops deployed at FOB Izzi conducted a night patrol within the Ibeagu area of Izzi Local Government Area.
According to the sources, the troops observed two suspicious individuals carrying a bag. On sighting the patrol team, the suspects reportedly abandoned the bag and fled into a nearby bush.
A search of the bag led to the recovery of one locally made pistol and a cartridge.
The sources added that efforts were ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects, while patrols had been intensified in the area to prevent further criminal activity.
