Soldier killed in road accident in Jos

A soldier has lost his life in a road traffic accident involving a trailer truck at Zololo Junction in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau.
The incident occurred on May 4, according to a military source.
The source said troops of the Defence Company, alongside the Quick Response Force (QRF) of Operation Safe Haven, responded to a distress report of the accident.
“On arrival at the scene, troops discovered the lifeless body of the soldier who was knocked down by a trailer truck while riding his motorcycle.
“The driver of the trailer reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene,” the source said.
He added that the troops evacuated the remains of the deceased to the morgue of the Nigerian Air Force Hospital in Jos.
The abandoned trailer truck has since been recovered and moved to the headquarters of Operation Safe Haven for further investigation.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing driver, the source said.
