Armed bandits operating in Bukuyum Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State have relocated to Bani town in Kwara State following intensified operations by local vigilantes, a captured insurgent has revealed.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the  terrorist, apprehended in Kyaram community by vigilante forces, provided crucial intelligence on the current status and movements of the criminal group responsible for numerous attacks in the region.

According to the sources, the bandits have suffered significant losses, reducing their operational strength in Zamfara, but they still possess dangerous weapons and ammunition.

“Many of their fighters have either been neutralized or fled due to increased pressure from local vigilantes and security forces. However, their key leaders and remaining fighters have moved to Bani town in Kwara State, leaving behind a weakened structure in Bukuyum,” the captured insurgent reportedly confessed during interrogation.

Zagazola Makama warned  that the movement of these insurgents to Kwara State poses a new security challenge, necessitating increased surveillance and counterterror operations beyond Zamfara’s borders.
