Tension in Plateau as Ngas Residents attack Fulani Herders Over New Settlement

Tension has been reported in Tambes village in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State following attack by Ngas natives on Fulani herders over alleged attempts to establish a new settlement in the area.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred in the early hours of May 3, when suspected Ngas youths allegedly attacked two Fulani herders over concerns linked to the setting up of a new herders’ camp in the community.

The sources disclosed that the confrontation led to a breakdown of order in the area before the intervention of security forces.

According to the sources, troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), Sector 8, deployed in Pankshin, swiftly responded to the distress report and moved to the scene.

They added that the troops intervened to de-escalate tensions and restored calm in the affected community.

The sources noted that security forces have been reinforced in the area, while efforts are ongoing to prevent further escalation.
