Troops Arrest Suspected Cultist, Recover Firearm in Benue

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected cultist and recovered a locally fabricated pistol and ammunition in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Military sources said the suspect was apprehended by troops of Sector 1 OPWS at about 7:10 p.m. on Monday during a security operation in the area.
The sources disclosed that the suspect was allegedly involved in cult-related activities and had been under surveillance before his arrest.
Items recovered from the suspect included one locally fabricated pistol, two cartridges and a bag.
According to the sources, the suspect is in custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to combat cultism and other criminal activities in Benue and its environs.
Operation Whirl Stroke has continued to intensify operations across its area of responsibility to deny criminal elements freedom of action and enhance security for residents.
