Troops arrest terror collaborator, three suspected terrorists in Kainji operation

Troops of Operation SAFE SANITY (OPSS) have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator and three suspected terrorists during intelligence-led operations in Niger State, uncovering fresh links to wanted members of a terrorist network.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the breakthrough began at about 8:30 a.m. on July 23, when troops at the Headquarters of Operation SAFE SANITY apprehended a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kainji town.

According to the sources, the suspect provided actionable intelligence during preliminary interrogation, revealing the location of a suspected terrorist hideout at Baborasa Village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Acting on the intelligence, troops launched a follow-up operation at about 10:00 p.m. on July 24, leading to the arrest of three suspected terrorists at the identified location.

Further exploitation of the operation revealed that the contact list on one of the suspects’ mobile phones contained the telephone numbers of several wanted terrorists already on the formation’s watch list, suggesting possible operational links with high-value terrorist elements.

The suspects are currently in military custody for further interrogation, while investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider network and facilitate the arrest of other wanted members of the group.
