Troops arrest two suspected burglars over hotel air conditioner theft in Jos

Troops of Sector 1, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), have arrested two suspected burglars accused of stealing air conditioner compressors from a hotel along Busa Buji Road in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspects were arrested at about 1610 hours on Sept. 15, 2026, following a report that two individuals had burgled the facility where they were reportedly lodged.
According to security sources, troops responded to the report and arrested the suspects, identified as Usman Jafar, 28, and Ibrahim Abdullahi, also known as Abba, 30.
During preliminary questioning, the suspects reportedly confessed to burgling the hotel and stealing two air conditioner compressors.
Items recovered from the suspects included one desert vest, one military identification card, one screwdriver, three pliers and one mobile phone, among other items.
The suspects remain in custody and are undergoing investigation to establish the full extent of their alleged activities and determine whether they are connected to other cases of burglary in the area.
Security authorities said further action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
