Troops  clear IEDs, destroy terror camp in Orsu LGA in Imo

Troops of Sector 4 Operation UDO KA conducted an offensive operation on March 11 to clear Orsu-Ihiteukwa area in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).

 

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the  troops engaged the terror group, forcing them to flee, and detonated several IEDs found along the route. 

 

A terror facility was discovered and destroyed, along with IED-making materials, including 32 new pipes, multiple wires and clips, one double-barrel gun, one pistol magazine with one 9mm round, three rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, two CCTV cameras, and a Biafra flag. 

 

In a similar development, troops  of 143 Battalion responded to a distress call at about 9:41 p.m. on March 11 regarding criminal activities along the Okigwe–Ihube road in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

 

Sources said two civilians were rescued by troops, while another was reportedly abducted by criminals. 

 

The rescued victims were evacuated for medical attention, and a search for the remaining victim and perpetrators is ongoing.
