Troops Crush Terrorists, Rescue Captives in Zamfara State

Nigerian Army troops have intensified counterterrorism operations in Zamfara State, engaging armed groups in fierce battles that resulted in the neutralization of a terrorist and the rescue of captives.

In Unguwan Baki village, Faskari Local Government Area, troops repelled a terrorist attack, forcing the assailants to retreat into the forest and abandon their motorcycles.

In a rare development, a high-ranking terrorist commander in Jibia Local Government Area voluntarily surrendered, handing over two AK-47 rifles and releasing 10 captives, including seven women and three children. The surrender marks a significant step in the fight against banditry in the region.

Additionally, troops engaged another group of terrorists in Zamfara, eliminating one while others fled in disarray, leaving behind two motorcycles.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, praised the troops for their resilience and vowed to continue aggressive operations to restore peace in Zamfara and other troubled regions.
