Troops, DIA Operatives Recover Firearm and Ammunition During Raid on Suspected Terrorist Enclave in Taraba

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), have recovered a firearm and a cache of ammunition during a cordon-and-search operation in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Security sources Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted on June 10 at suspected terrorist enclaves in Mutum Biyu community.

According to the sources, troops of Sector 3 OPWS, deployed in Gassol, carried out the operation based on intelligence reports indicating the presence of criminal elements in the area.

A search of the suspected hideouts led to the recovery of one revolver pistol, nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 160 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The recovered items have been taken into military custody pending further investigation and necessary action.

The sources said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt the activities of criminal and terrorist groups operating within the region.
