Troops of 162 Amphibious Battalion have foiled a late-night attack by suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said that the incident occurred at about 11:40 p.m. on April 27, when troops detected the movement of insurgents approaching their location at Mandaraguirau.
The sources said the terrorists, numbering several and mounted on about 30 motorcycles, were advancing from the Diwa Kamda and Diwa Mbula axis before being spotted through surveillance systems.
According to the sources, troops immediately engaged the attackers with effective fire missions, forcing them to retreat without making contact.
They added that the successful repulsion of the attack highlights the vigilance of troops and ongoing efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action across the theatre.
