Suspected kidnappers have abducted two passengers after blocking the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 2040 hours on Aug. 28, when troops of Sector 4, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to a distress report concerning the attack along the highway.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops established that the criminals had blocked the road and intercepted a vehicle driven by one Mr Kollog Dakwan, from which they abducted two passengers.
The troops immediately launched a rescue operation into the surrounding bush in an attempt to track the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
However, no contact was established with the criminals during the initial operation.
Security forces have continued efforts to locate the victims and apprehend the perpetrators, while surveillance and patrols are being intensified along the route and adjoining areas.
The incident highlights the continued vulnerability of major road corridors in parts of Plateau State to kidnapping and other forms of criminal activity.
Operation ENDURING PEACE is expected to sustain clearance and search operations in the area while working with local communities to obtain information that could assist in the rescue operation and arrest of the perpetrators.
