Troops intervene after soldier assaulted by NURTW members in Bauchi

Troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 82, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have intervened following the reported assault of a soldier by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Zwall Guard Location in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred at about 6:02 p.m. on Sept. 2, 2026, when troops responded to a report of an assault on their colleague.
According to security sources, Trooper Hezekiah Usoko, was attempting to check a commercial driver who had allegedly obstructed the free flow of traffic while picking up passengers when he was assaulted by NURTW members.
The soldier sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Upon arrival at the location, the responding troops arrested the commercial driver involved in the incident and impounded his Zectra vehicle with registration number KTS 462-KTN for further necessary action.
The development is being investigated to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault and determine appropriate action against those involved.
