Troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have intervened in separate incidents involving farm destruction and alleged grazing in restricted areas in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In the first incident, troops responded at about 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, to a report of destruction of farms belonging to Mrs. Lima Davour and four others at Bindi Village in Riyom LGA.

Upon arrival at the location, the troops discovered that the destruction had already occurred and was reportedly caused by grazing activities.

The affected farmers, however, managed to confiscate a calf allegedly abandoned by herders in the farmland.

The recovered calf was moved to a safe location, while Fulani community leaders were contacted for necessary action and engagement over the incident.

In a separate incident at about 2:30 p.m., troops deployed at Rim responded to a report of herders grazing cattle in restricted areas within Rim Community.

The troops arrived at the location but found that the herders had fled with their cattle after sighting the security personnel.

The troops pursued the fleeing herders and recovered a sheep that had been abandoned during the escape.

The recovered livestock was moved to a safe location for further necessary action.

The incidents draw attention to the continuing security challenges surrounding farming and grazing activities in parts of Plateau State, with security forces maintaining patrols and engaging community leaders to prevent such disputes from escalating into violence.
