Troops of Operation MESA, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested three suspected drug peddlers during a snap check along the Keffi-Abuja road in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The operation was conducted at about 1 p.m. on Aug. 18 by troops of 177 Guards Battalion deployed at Masaka Patrol Base alongside NDLEA personnel.
According to sources, the joint team conducted a snap check on vehicles and commuters along the strategic highway and apprehended three suspects allegedly involved in illicit drug trafficking.
During the operation, the security personnel recovered suspected crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice,” from the suspects.
The suspects and recovered exhibits were subsequently handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt the movement and distribution of illicit drugs along major transportation corridors in the country.
