Troops of Operation UDO KA have recovered a locally made pistol, ammunition and large sums of cash following the arrest of suspected armed robbers during a raid operation in the South-East.
Security sources told Zagazola that the recovery was made on Thursday as a follow-up to an operation conducted on June 8, during which five suspected armed robbers were arrested by troops of Sector 2 of Operation UDO KA.
According to the sources, one of the suspects led troops to his hideout at about 2:00 p.m., where a search was conducted.
The operation led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and a mobile phone.
Troops also recovered CFA 10,000 and N1.8 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The sources said the recovered items have been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their origin and establish the extent of the suspects’ involvement in criminal activities.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat armed robbery and other violent crimes across the region.
