Troops of 17 Brigade have rescued five kidnapped victims during a fighting patrol along the Dandume–Maigora road in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 5:15 p.m. on April 2 when troops from Anguwan Rimi conducted a patrol within the area as part of ongoing counter-banditry operations.
The sources disclosed that the troops made contact with suspected terrorists, who fled immediately upon sighting the advancing troops.
According to the sources, the troops pursued the fleeing suspects, forcing them to abandon five kidnapped victims at different points along their withdrawal route.
The rescued victims were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.
Security operations in the area are continuing as troops intensify efforts to track down the fleeing criminals and dismantle their network in the region.
