Troops of 153 Task Force Battalion, in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force and Hybrid Forces, have neutralised two suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists during a fighting patrol in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 9:00 a.m. on May 15, 2026, covering Valle, Ashigashiya and Gakara general areas.
According to the sources, the troops made contact with the terrorists during the patrol, leading to an exchange of fire.
Two of the terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others reportedly fled towards the Ngoshe axis.
The sources added that troops exploited the general area after the engagement but no further contact was made.
Security authorities said patrols and clearance operations were ongoing to deny terrorists freedom of movement within the Gwoza axis.
