Village head, two others injured in Bokkos attack

The village head of Hurti in Manguna District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau, and two others have sustained injuries following an attack by suspected militias.

 

Sources said that the incident occurred on Wednesday night when the victims were returning home from Bokkos town.

 

The victims were identified as Saf Maren Arandong Makwal, the village head of Hurti; Sunday Makwal; and one other person whose identity was yet to be confirmed.

 

According to the sources, the assailants waylaid the victims and inflicted varying degrees of injuries on them before escaping.

 

The injured persons were later taken to a private clinic in Tenti village, where they are currently receiving treatment.

 

Community members said tension has risen in the area following the attack, while efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
