Fulani Bandits ambush, kill woman in Riyom community, Plateau

A woman has been killed by suspected fulani bandits in Batok 2 Village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 2100 hours on Aug. 28, when troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to reports of sporadic shooting in the community.
The troops moved to the area and conducted a search of the general vicinity, where they discovered the corpse of a native identified as Mrs Helen John.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the assailants allegedly laid an ambush and concealed themselves in a maize farm close to the victim’s residence before attacking her while she was engaged in household chores.
The circumstances surrounding the attack are still being investigated.
The corpse was subsequently handed over to community leaders for further action.
Security forces have commenced efforts to track down and arrest the assailants, while patrols and surveillance have been intensified around the community and adjoining areas.
