Gunmen Shoot Man, Abduct Brother During Midnight Attack in Kogi

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot a man and abducted his younger brother during a midnight attack on Bakumba Community along the Agbaja Road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on July 13 when the armed assailants invaded the residence of Samuel Aguma.

According to the sources, Samuel sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm after the attackers opened fire during the invasion.

The assailants subsequently abducted his younger brother, Shilanto Aguma, and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

The injured victim was later rushed to the police station by members of the local Hunters Group at about 3:30 a.m. on July 14.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Division “B”, Lokoja, mobilised a patrol team to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, where photographs were taken as part of the investigation.

Samuel Aguma was thereafter evacuated to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

Security sources said surveillance and bush-combing operations have been intensified in the area to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The Kogi State Police Command said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
