Missing Chief Park Ranger Found Dead in Oyo Forest After Alleged Suicide

A 40-year-old Chief Park Ranger with the Old Oyo National Park has been found dead after allegedly taking his own life in a forest area of Tede, Oyo State.
The incident was reported to the Tede Police Division on Friday, August 21, 2026, after the ranger had reportedly been missing for four days.
According to a police source, a forest ranger attached to the Old Oyo National Park, identified as Babatunde Abdulrasheed, reported at the station at about 8:00 a.m. that the missing ranger, identified as Ajeiigbe Jacob, had been found in the bush at Iyanla area of Tede.
The source said Jacob was found hanging from a rope tied to a tree, in what was suspected to be suicide.
Following the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), Tede Division, immediately proceeded to the scene.
Police personnel photographed the scene and subsequently lowered the body from the tree.
The family of the deceased reportedly requested that the remains be released to them for burial.
The police have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, while further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
