One killed, two injured in attack on mining site in Jos East

One person was killed while two others sustained gunshot wounds after suspected Fulani militias attacked an illegal mining site at Nabar Dutse community in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 25, when troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, responded to a distress report from the mining site.
Upon arrival, the troops discovered that the assailants had shot and macheted one of the victims, identified as Mr Azang Azi, to death.
Two other victims, identified as Emmanuel Azi and Musa Ashom, sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.
The troops subsequently dominated the area with fighting patrols and commenced a manhunt for the fleeing assailants.
Security sources said efforts were ongoing to track down the attackers and prevent further attacks in the area.
